Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico

In 2003 Clive Pates was awarded a rare third Elizabeth Greenshields Grant to travel and paint in North America. The first three months of this journey were spent camped out in a tent on a rocky outcrop over Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico. The Following paintings were all completed during this stay.

The names of the paintings were derived from the descriptions of Punta Chivato in Markes E. Johnson’s book Discovering the Geology of Baja California: Six Hikes on the Southern Gulf Coast (http://www.uapress.arizona.edu).
